Molly Kistin, an Earlham College sophomore and daughter of Harold Gershenson and Naomi Kistin of Albuquerque, served as a teaching assistant during Earlham College's Wilderness backpacking course.
Kistin taught the basic skills of backpacking in wilderness areas. The course included pre-trip meetings and culminated with a three-day trip to the Southeast in October. Earlham is a liberal arts college in Richmond, Ind.

Army Pfc. Jared R. Lewis graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
He is the son of Eva Tafoya of Albuquerque and a 2004 graduate of La Cueva High School.

Army Pfc. Lapifany R. Collins graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
She is the daughter of Sharon Baty and granddaughter of Floyd Collins, both of Albuquerque. She also is a 2005 graduate of a high school program at New Mexico Youth Challenge Academy in Roswell.
