We start today with some sad news.
Vegetarian cafe La Siringitu, 1501 Mountain Road N.W., has closed its doors.
The last day of service was Dec. 16, but owners Ahmed Dawson, Brenda Hollingsworth-Pickett and Neema Kamaria Hanifa are planning a big farewell bash for Jan. 6.
The reception will include a veggie buffet and an art show, beginning at 4 p.m.
Also, the catering service will still be available - as will the owners' "rent-a-veggie-chef" for in-home service.
On the upside: Hanifa will keep her Kamaria Creations Hair Salon and Day Spa open at the same space.
Good news, Old Town shoppers!
Two more stores have opened: Flights of Fancy and Forever Southwest.
Flights of Fancy, 205 Romero St. N.W., sells New Mexico creations, including art and jewelry.
Forever Southwest, 419 San Felipe St. N.W., carries hand-crafted furnishings and art, including those made by owner Alexis Powell.
Lastly, we have another closing to report.
Another buffet has served its last in Albuquerque.
The Golden Corral Family Steakhouse at 8505 Montgomery Blvd. N.E. is gone.
If there is any comfort we can offer lovers of the all-you-can-eat restaurant, it's this: The remaining three Corrals in town - on Coors Boulevard Northwest, Central Avenue Northeast and on N.M. 528 heading toward Rio Rancho - are still open.
