It was at last year's Indianapolis 500 that Danica Patrick finished fourth and set off a media frenzy.

One year later, Patrick, 24, has written an autobiography, which she was promoting this week.

She was on "Live with Regis and Kelly," NBC's "Today Show," CBS' "The Early Show" and ESPN2's "Cold Pizza."

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but shouldn't a person have lived a while before penning an autobiography?

Heck, when I was 24, I could barely blow my own nose.

I like Danica, but this is a shameless way of cashing in on her fame.

"For anybody out there who has a dream, it reiterates the fact that you have to follow it and never give up," Patrick said on Indycar.com. "I know that sounds pretty generic, but it's about everything that happened in my life and how that contributed to the way I am today."

I'm sure Danica's dream wasn't to finish fourth in the Indy 500. If she's a true racer, her dream would be to win the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Janet Guthrie, 68, released her autobiography last year, almost 30 years after she became the first woman to race in the Indianapolis 500. She did it the right way.

What has Patrick done?

No wins.

A few pole positions.

That's it.

Her best finish anywhere in the Indy Racing League is fourth.

Winning a race might help sell more books, Danica.

I say boycott her book and wait until Patrick can write a real autobiography, after she's done some livin'.

Supercross finale: Although this is an auto racing column, I think it's worth mentioning some motorcyle racing.

Tonight is the season finale of the Supercross series. It will be televised live on Speed Channel.

I'm more of a MotoGP fan, but this year I've really gotten into Supercross. Three riders (James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed) all have a shot at the title.

Usually, one rider dominates this series.

For years it was Jeremy McGrath. Then Carmichael came along.

We could be looking at the beginning of the Stewart era.

Reed and Carmichael are tied for the championship. A win or second place finish by either clinches the championship, if the other doesn't win. But if Stewart wins and someone other than Reed or Carmichael finishes second, Stewart would be the champion.

Having watched most of the races this season, I think Stewart will win the race. He's clearly faster than Reed or Carmichael.

Watch and you might enjoy it.
