Bernalillo police are looking for a Hispanic male in his late 20s suspected in an attack earlier this week on GOP campaign worker Paige McKenzie.
The man weighs between 175 and 180 pounds and has no facial hair, Bernalillo Police Chief Fred Radosevich said.
He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, dark pants and white shoes, running east from the First Community Bank in Bernalillo, Radosevich said.
The description came from McKenzie, who is in serious condition at University of New Mexico Hospital but was able to speak briefly Friday. A witness also offered information, Radosevich said.
Republican gubernatorial candidate John Dendahl, whom McKenzie works for as a spokeswoman, said she was expected to have facial reconstructive surgery today.
McKenzie suffered broken cheekbones and a broken chin. She had several teeth knocked out and her jaw had to be wired shut, Dendahl said.
Police have no motive and are processing evidence collected Thursday from her car.
Radosevich said McKenzie was not sexually assaulted and nothing appears to have been taken from her vehicle. He said she had a flat tire, but it wasn't slashed.
