Q: How many people voted early?

A: In Bernalillo County, 41,253 people voted early, including 15,058 Republicans and 21,813 Democrats. Statewide, 116,656 people voted early.

Q: Which party cast more early votes?

A: In Bernalillo County, Democrats cast more early ballots, with 21,813 to 15,059 from Republicans. Statewide numbers by party weren't available.

Q: What about absentee ballots?

A: In Bernalillo County, 56,465 absentee ballots were cast by this morning, including 26,537 by Democrats and 24,371 by Republicans. Statewide, 85,142 absentee ballots have been cast. The absentee totals will change because voters can cast them until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Q: How does early and absentee voting compare to 2004?

A: So far this year, 201,798 absentee and early votes have been cast. That compares to 392,360 early and absentee votes in 2004, which, of course, was a presidential election.

Q: How do I register to vote, and what's the deadline?

In county government: assessor, probate judge, sheriff and some seats on the Bernalillo County Commission.

A number of judicial positions for Metro Court and state District Court are also on the ballot.
