Evaluation: Gomez received very positive job performance ratings from all groups surveyed for this evaluation. Her specific strengths include discharging responsibilities diligently, maintaining appropriate hours, and quickly and decisively ruling on procedural and substantive matters. In addition, Gomez was rated highly for her dignified demeanor, fairness and courteous treatment of court participants and staff. She also received very high ratings for her knowledge of the rules of procedure and evidence, and her knowledge of substantive law.
Experience and education: Gomez earned her law degree from UNM in 1981 and her bachelor's from the University of California-Davis. She has served on Metro Court since 1991. Her prior work experience includes service in the New Mexico Attorney General's Office, the Public Defender Department and private practice. Gomez has also served as an instructor for the American Indian Law Center.
