THE ANT BULLY (B-)
There's not much new here. Structurally, it's reminiscent of the superior "Monster House," with an awkward boy (Zach Tyler Eisen) experiencing adventures and learning to trust what he'd once feared while his clueless parents are on vacation. Thematically, it calls to mind "Over the Hedge," with its ideas about suburban sprawl destroying nature. Rated PG; 90 min.

BARNYARD: THE ORIGINAL PARTY ANIMALS (D-)
This has lackluster voice talent, unimpressive computer-generated animation that makes all the animals look like marshmallows, a so-so soundtrack and - perhaps worst of all - it may be the first animated movie to put udders on male bovines. Rated PG; 90 min.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (C+)
Like the hottest new fashion trend, it's irresistible at first. Fun, flirty, spirited, sexy - you can't take your eyes off it. You've got to have it. And then, just as suddenly as it bursts onto the scene and commands your attention, it dies. But Meryl Streep brilliantly brings former Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour to life, stealing the film from the young Anne Hathaway. PG-13; 109 min.

MONSTER HOUSE (A-)
This actually has a story and doesn't just trot out cheeky characters spewing gratuitous pop culture references. It also distinguishes itself from most horror movies in that it really is scary - definitely too much so for little kids, but even some adults will find themselves startled. Rated PG; 91 min.

STEP UP (D)
The plot is ultra-predictable, the acting stilted, the dialogue laughably bad and the dancing - until the final scene - so chopped up by editing you can't really pass judgment on its quality. Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) is the bad boy from the streets who takes up with Nora (Jenna Dewan), a dancer at an arts school, when he's assigned to do community service for vandalizing the school's theater. His hip-hop street style clashes with her ballet school technique, a fallout ensues but, in the end . . . well, you know the rest. Rated PG-13; 98 min.

SUPERMAN RETURNS (A)
Everything you'd want it to be. It's reverential of the source material, yet a distinctive film all its own. It's joyous with the possibility of discovery, yet deeply moving in its melancholy. But, most important, it's just outright thrilling. Rated PG-13; 157 min.

TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY (C)
Like the sport it spoofs, the movie has its thrilling moments but mostly feels repetitive - it's constantly moving but never really goes anywhere. It's also just too much like "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." Same star (Will Ferrell), same director (Adam McKay), same writers (Ferrell and McKay again). Same basic character (Ricky Bobby, a fervently clueless doofus who's unflappably confident in his abilities), same plot (he's at the top of his game but experiences a downfall at the hands of a new rival). Rated PG-13; 97 min.

WORLD TRADE CENTER (A-)
In the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, rescuers work to recover all survivors. Nicolas Cage and Michael Pe¤a star as New York Port Authority police Officers John McLoughlin and William Jimeno, who become trapped in the rubble. Rated PG-13; 125 min.
