Chris Cillizza's "The Fix" blog at the Washington Post said Richardson is the first candidate with two TV ads in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The ad buy, estimated at $150,000, is relatively modest, but a good way for Richardson to begin introducing himself to voters, Cillizza wrote. After introductions comes snaring some votes, which Richardson needs to get cracking on. In his regular ranking of the candidates, Cillizza kept Richardson stalled in fourth place, but had nice things to say:
"We were pleasantly surprised by the New Mexico governor's fund-raising and his willingness to spend his money on early ads in New Hampshire and Iowa. Richardson has a good story to tell, and the ads should help boost his numbers in these two critical early states."
Permanent peacekeepers
Richardson told "The Politicker" blog of the New York Observer this week that he would support a permanent peacekeeping force at the United Nations. A former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Richardson pointed to the hitch with Darfur: "You know, in Darfur right now, there's talk about 5,000 U.N. troops. Well, now we have to find them and recruit them. It's going to be another year. So, I would support a permanent U.N. peacekeeping force."
Richardson also dragged out that same old "I'm not a rock star" line he's been using 10 times a day. The Kates have grown weary of it. Can anyone out there come up with something new for the guy to say? C'mon. We'll give you a prize.
