LAREDO, Tex. The New Mexico Scorpions lost 6-4 Saturday at Laredo to lose the first game of the best-of-seven final for the Central Hockey League Southern Conference title.
Scorpion Jeremy Garrison scored a power-play goal to cut Laredo's lead to 5-2 after two periods, but Laredo held on for the win. The two teams return to the ice in Laredo at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Scorpions are at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho on Friday for Game 3, Saturday for Game 4 and Saturday for Game 5.
