Time is running out for the Albuquerque Isotopes to make a run at the Pacific Coast League playoffs.
The Isotopes lost 3-2 to the host Nashville Sounds on Sunday night at Greer Stadium.
The defeat prevented the Isotopes from gaining ground on division-leading New Orleans. Albuquerque (60-60) trails the Zephyrs (64-57) by 3 games in the PCL's Southern Division with 22 games left to play.
Nashville (72-49) leads the Northern Division by 4 games over the Iowa Cubs (64-58).
Albuquerque will wrap up its four game set in the Music City tonight with lefty Chris George (5-9, 5.68 ERA) facing Sounds right-handed knuckle-baller R.A. Dickey (9-5, 3.78).
Game time is 5 p.m. on KNML-AM (610).
The Isotopes return home on Tuesday for a four game series against the Round Rock Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. A comic book giveaway is the scheduled promotion on Tuesday.
In Sunday's loss, Albuquerque right fielder Brett Carroll had a run-scoring triple and made a run-saving outfield assist.
But Nashville rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a pair of runs in the seventh inning to spoil it for Albuquerque starter Nic Ungs, who left after 5 innings with a 2-1 lead.
On Saturday, Albuquerque pitcher Wes Obermueller led the Isotopes to a 3-1 victory over the Sounds. He allowed five hits, all singles, and struck out a season-high nine over 8 innings.
