I had always said I would not upgrade from my original 5 gigabyte iPod until Apple came up with something significantly better.
Sure, the subsequent versions have offered some updated abilities: color screen, videos, photos. As a music player, it did the same thing with the same menu structure.
Then along came the iPod Touch. Essentially a crippled iPhone with the new screen, the device is a major leap forward. Most of the good stuff is inside this slim device. If you don't mind the limited 8 GB or 16 GB capacity, it's excellent for on-the-go entertainment.
On the downside, don't mistake it for a handheld computer. There is little customization. E-mail can only be done through the Web on a limited browser and typing even long URLs is frustrating. It's best used for viewing content you have loaded on it.
I can't wait for the cool updates coming to the iPhone in the future.
