Here are a few brief reviews on popular video games:
"Call of Duty 4" (Activision) for the Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and PC — $59.99
There aren't many games where players can rescue hostages, save the world and blast enemies below from a gunship. "COD4" combines all that with killer graphics and stellar gameplay.
Rating: 10 (out of 10)

"Assassin's Creed" (Ubisoft) for the Xbox 360, Sony PS3 — $59.99
I can remember this online video, which was very popular a few years back: a Russian boy was leaping from building to building as if he were Spider-Man. Now, I can do the same thing in "AC." The open environments, beautiful graphics and the innovative gameplay make this game shine.
Rating: 9.5

"Mass Effect" (Bioware) for the Xbox 360 — $59.99
I will admit I wasn't a huge fan of "Knights of the Old Republic" games, even if they were based on "Star Wars." But this combines space exploration, engaging dialogue and some cool gun fights.
Rating: 10

"Manhunt 2" (Rockstar) for the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS2 and PSP — $39.99
This game is fun but surrounded by controversy. It is the sequel to the Rockstar smash "Manhunt" and was nearly banned. Still, the Wii's innovative controls make this one interesting game to play. Very visceral.
Rating: 8

"Link's Crossbow Training" (Nintendo) for the Nintendo Wii — lists for $19.99 but expect to pay more.
For the price, you get the game, the Wii Zapper and fun not seen on a Nintendo platform since "Duck Hunt" on the NES. The graphics are so-so, but you can use the Zapper on other titles, including "Medal of Honor 2: Heroes" and "Ghost Squad." They are rather scarce for the holidays, too.
Rating: 8.5
