Albuquerque police arrested two 14-year-old Volcano Vista High School students Wednesday, accusing them of bringing a loaded handgun to Cibola High School.
A group of three students from Volcano Vista was talking to three students from Cibola, when one of the students flashed a 9 mm handgun, said Rigo Chavez, spokesman for Albuquerque Public Schools.
Police arrested and charged two of the Volcano Vista students with aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon on a school campus.
The Volcano Vista students were attending an elective class at Cibola.
APS has suspended the three Volcano Vista students, and two of them face expulsion, Chavez said.
He said it's not clear why they brought a loaded handgun, but one student told police he had taken it from his uncle.
