Some characters on "Boston Legal" (9 p.m., KOAT-Channel 7) just annoy the happiness right out of me.
One of the newest lawyers at the law firm, Jeffrey Coho (Craig Bierko), is totally the worst.
He's smarmy, cocky and has no real personality quirk that draws me in. Plus, he's taking away from my Denny (William Shatner) and Alan (James Spader) time.
Completely unforgivable.
Tonight, the pathetic Alan clone Coho becomes the subject of Denise's (Julie Bowen) romantic dilemma.
Noooo.
Meanwhile, in the legal arena, Denny and Alan join ambitious attorney Vanessa Walker (Nia Long, "Third Watch") down in New Orleans. There, they defend a doctor accused of euthanizing patients during Hurricane Katrina.
Sometimes tasteless, but always thought-provoking.
Another thought-provoking but infinitely more tasteful show is "Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century: The Resurgence" (10 p.m., KNME-Channel 5).
The title is not so sexy, reminding me more of something I'd call a midterm paper than a documentary.
It's an excellent look, though, at anti-Semitism and all the things that go along with it - hate propaganda, vandalism and assaults on Jews.
The show, hosted by Judy Woodruff, addresses the roots of anti-Semitism and why it continues to flourish here and abroad.
There are plenty of interviews with scholars on the historical, religious and political reasons for why Jews have been a target of hate for centuries.
And no documentary on anti-Semitism would be complete without the lunatic "No Jews died in the 9/11 attacks because they were all warned ahead of time" theory. It never ceases to amaze me how many people genuinely believe this sort of nonsense.
Makes you want to tear your hair out in frustration.
For much lighter fare, there's the "People's Choice Awards" (8 p.m., KRQE News 13) hosted by Queen Latifah. Winners are determined by online votes cast from fans.
Oh, yes, feel the power we yield in categories like favorite male movie star (Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington) and favorite female movie star (Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock).
Take that, you prestigious award shows!
