If you've noticed that West Siders seem more trimmed up and slimmed up lately, there's good reason.
Ventana Ranch now has a Great Clips and a Curves in the new retail development behind Walgreens at Paradise and Universe boulevards.
Curves hasn't been open long, but the parking lot is already full nightly.
And, after a grueling spell at the gym, those women deserve a treat - of the noncaloric variety, of course.
Lucky for them, Massage Envy is not too far away.
Massage Envy opened next door to the Cottonwood Pei Wei restaurant five weeks ago.
The business, a franchise, offers a variety of massages, including deep, reflexology, reiki, pregnancy, Swedish, sports and deep tissue. (I asked - There's even more on the list of massages available. For that, you'll have call: 922-0202.)
Meanwhile, Central Avenue is again brimming with excitement.
Nob Hill has a new home furnishings store.
Pfeifer Studio is an online retailer that has set up its flagship showroom in Albuquerque. (The news release says the furniture and accessories were inspired by New Mexico.) It's run by designer AJ DeForest.
The company has been designing pieces for luxury retailers, catalogs and interior designers all over the world. (Clients include DKNY, Anthropologie and Saks Fifth Avenue, DeForest says.)
The new shop, featuring handcrafted leather and wood furnishings among other things, is at 108 Morningside Drive N.E.
You can see the furnishings, dubbed "New Mexico modernism" by the store, for yourself by dropping by the new shop, or you can visit the store online at www.pfeiferstudio.com.
