Engagements
Lewis/Chiotti
Kelsey Anne Lewis and David Paul Chiotti will marry Aug. 4 at Central United Methodist Church.
The bride's parents are Donald and Jan Lewis of Albuquerque.
The groom's parents are Gary and Madeline Chiotti of San Jose, Calif.
Boehm/Hymel
Julia Boehm and Kent Hymel will marry Aug. 10 in Portland, Ore.
They met playing soccer at Lewis and Clark College and have continued playing throughout their courtship.
The bride's father and stepmother are John and Kathy Boehm of Woodland, Calif. Her mother is the late Roann Eddy.
The groom's parents are Mike and Michele Hymel of Albuquerque.
The honeymoon will be in Australia, with scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
Spears/Hébert
Marissa Kathleen Spears and Ryan Alan Hébert will marry Aug. 11 at Christ United Methodist Church.
They have known each other since third grade, went to Sunday school together and became high school sweethearts. They courted spending Saturdays together in the park reading and looking at the clouds.
The bride's parents are Timothy and Beverly Spears of Albuquerque.
The groom's parents are Gregory and Carol Hébert of Albuquerque.
The bride and groom, who are both architecture students, will honeymoon in San Francisco to look at its magnificent buildings.
Wedding
Schlegel/Martinez
Tiffany L. Schlegel and Andrew M. Martinez were married July 7 in Albuquerque.
They met at Rio Rancho Elementary School and went to Lincoln Middle School and Cibola High School together, graduating in 1997. They lived one block from each other throughout their childhoods.
After high school, Martinez joined the Marines and Schlegel moved to Portales to attend Eastern New Mexico University. They remained friends but only saw each other when Martinez was on leave. When his release date came closer, they rekindled their relationship. Martinez retired from the Marines in October 2006, and on Valentine's Day 2007, he proposed to Schlegel over a romantic dinner that he planned and cooked.
The bride's parents are Melodie MacDiarmid and Karl Schlegel, both of Rio Rancho.
The groom's parents are Starr Thurman of Albuquerque and Mark Martinez of Rio Rancho.
The maid of honor was Angela Bruyneel of Albuquerque. The best man was Jesse Baquera.
The wedding was officiated by Valerie Ashby, the bride's mother's twin sister.
