Peter Robert Mitchell today was named Albuquerque's economic development director.
Mitchell was state economic development director from 1999-2002.
Most recently, he was the vice president of business development for Builder Rewards, a firm in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mayor Martin Chavez said he looks forward to working with Mitchell.
"This is what he does for a living," he said at a news conference today.
Mitchell succeeds Fred Mondragon, who left recently to become the state's economic development director.
Chavez said Mitchell will focus on recruiting new companies to town, boosting the city's film industry and increasing cultural and economic exchange with the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
Mitchell will make $97,000 per year, Chavez said.
Mitchell earned his master's in international management from American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Ariz.
