Businesses that specialize in renewable energy saw their revenue grow at a torrid pace of nearly 39 percent in 2006 to $55.4 billion worldwide, according to a report by the Clean Edge market research firm.
The report, released Tuesday, also predicted that the global market for renewable-energy products could climb to $226.5 billion by 2016 as the world turns to biofuels, solar cells and wind turbines for power.
