Three days later, the blogosphere is still braying over Gov. Bill Richardson's performance Sunday on "Meet the Press."

First off, the Kates have to point out that Richardson called the journalist he rescued from Darfur "David Salopek" instead of "Paul." Ooops.

Wasn't the governor just criticized for calling a fallen New Mexico Marine by the wrong name, while trying to spin his side of who said what about the military death benefit check for the man's family?

At least Richardson remembered the journalist interviewing him, Tim Russert. And Russert was tough, even with less important topics like America's pastime.

Russert asked Richardson whether he is a Boston Red Sox fan. The governor said yes, but that he is also a New York Yankees fan. Sources tell the Kates that you can't be both.

The "Bearing Drift" blog was more blunt: "Is Bill Richardson this stupid?"

The governor also took it on the chin over immigration, specifically for saying that a wall along the border wasn't working.

The "California Yankee" blog begged to differ, citing information from a Border Patrol official who said apprehensions dropped dramatically after a better fence was installed near San Diego.

Even Russert seemed incredulous, asking, "Anywhere along the border, the fence hasn't worked?"

Nope, the guv said. Border Patrol agents, however, have worked, he said.

Even New Mexico blogger Joe Monahan said Richardson "flat-lined" on the show and "was not ready for prime time."

Good thing the show aired in the morning.
