Happy 101st episode, "NCIS" (7 p.m., KRQE News 13). The show doesn't look a day over 50, if you ask me.

The drama's ratings have certainly improved with age. Last season, it averaged 14.5 million viewers, and this year it's up to 17.5 million.

Color me surprised. Usually by this time, shows are on the downward spiral in the ratings and writing.

The only thing I really don't like about the investigative and quirky show these days, is NCIS director Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly).

Love the actress, hate the wooden character and her lame attempts to be the boss of everyone.

Tonight, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) agrees to help the childhood friend of his daughter who died 15 years ago. This causes him to actually show some emotion and leads him on a soul-searching journey.

Character development rocks.

I've barely had time to miss the "Real Housewives of the O.C." (8 p.m., Bravo) during its very, very short hiatus.

OK, I don't really miss the reality show as much as I miss judging the people on it.

The excessive lifestyles of Lauri, Jeana, Vicki and Jo don't exactly seem healthy. Their perpetual unhappiness almost makes my frugal lifestyle seem like a visit to Disneyland.

The financially challenged "housewife" Tammy, is the only one I'd actually be in the same room with without feeling an overwhelming desire to give her the stank eye.

I have a feeling that the newest addition to the cast, Tamra, would be getting the dirty looks from me on a constant basis. Of course, none of this comes from my jealousy over her looks or money.

The blonde's main drama comes from her husband, Simon, and her 21-year-old son from a previous relationship, Ryan. The men in her life just can't seem to get along. Tamra tries to keep the peace with Ryan and Simon while still taking care of her other three young kids and furthering her real estate career.

"I don't work to support my household," she says. "My husband has always made the money. So every time a deal closes, I make sure I buy something amazing for myself."

Every time I finish a column, I buy something amazing for myself, too: unleaded gasoline.

As this season begins, neurotic Vicki is struggling with having an empty nest and trying her best to keep a tight rein on her daughter, 18-year-old Briana. However, it seems the only way Vicki knows how to do this is through money, which results in the purchase of a new Mercedes for the teen.

I know that 30 is a little old for adoption, but I could certainly fill Vicki's empty nest for her, in return for a fly ride.

Pick me. Pick me.
