A man told police Monday he was beaten up by approximately seven New Mexico Scorpions players - at least one of whom was wearing a dress - after he won an arm-wrestling match.
According to the police report, Doyle Maynard was at Crazy Croc's in Rio Rancho during a Scorpions "rookie party," where rookies on the hockey team were dressed in women's clothing. Maynard won at arm wrestling, he said, and then got into a shoving match with the man he beat, who was not identified in the report. The other players then jumped him, hitting him with pool cue sticks until bouncers intervened and threatened to use a Taser on the players, Maynard said.
One of the players apologized to him later in the parking lot, the report said.
No charges have been filed in the incident, which occurred late Sunday.
