Albuquerque city election results

City elections 2007

Turnout was expected to be low, but Tuesday's vote may have hit new levels. Of 278,731 registered city voters, only about 10 percent cast ballots.

City Councilor Don Harris avoided becoming the first elected official in Albuquerque to be recalled. Outspending his opponents $50,986 to $13,980, he won 66 percent of the District 9 vote.

City Councilor Brad Winter, a longtime opponent of Mayor Martin Chavez, won by a whopping 81 percent margin over newcomer Paulette de'Pascal.

Rey Garduño avoided a runoff in the four-candidate race for District 6 by garnering 49 percent of the vote. He needed 40 percent for a clean win.

For the 12th time, voters denied a proposition that would have raised the salary of city councilors. The proposal would have given them $29,569 a year.
