An American team has won the 2007 America's Challenge gas balloon race, drifting 1,055 miles from the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
Andy Cayton and co-pilot Stuart Enloe, both of Georgia, remained airborne for 61 1/2 hours before landing Thursday morning near Kipling, Saskatchewan. Cayton also won the race last year.
Barbara Fricke and Peter Cuneo, both of Albuquerque, finished second, flying 475 miles and touching down near Hazleton, Kan.
Third place was taken by Gerald Stuerzlinger and Helmut Meierhofer, both of Austria, who flew almost 438 miles and landed near Benkelman, Neb.
Nine balloons competed in this year's race.
