A man told Albuquerque police he didn't know what he was thinking when he tried to pull a woman and her 4-month old baby into his truck, according to a criminal complaint.

Police arrested Jose Alberto Campos, 18, on Thursday after a woman reported that he grabbed her by the arm and lifted her skirt as he tried to drag her to his truck.

The truck was parked at San Joaquin Avenue and Richmond Drive Southeast.

The woman, who had her daughter in a carrying pouch on her chest, screamed and struggled until the man let her go, according to the complaint.

Police found Campos and his truck at a nearby park, and the woman identified him as her attacker.

Campos, who turned 18 on Tuesday, told police he had smoked marijuana and was high during the incident, according to the complaint.

"I did not know what came into my head," he said in the complaint.

Police asked Campos what his intention was and he told them he wanted to have sex with the woman, according to the complaint. He is being held in the Metro Detention Center on $25,000 bail, charged with kidnapping, abandonment or abuse of a child, and attempt to commit criminal sexual penetration.
