Tonight at Sadie's restaurant a soccer signing party will take place - a fiesta of fun to culminate many years of hard work on and off the pitch.

A dozen young women will gather to officially make their college choice. Fittingly, they will share the big day with friends, family and teammates they've shared so many wins - and a few losses - with over the years in their club-soccer past.

They will also share the moment with their club coach, Jason Moran (Rio Vista FC 90), who helped them achieve their soccer dream.

Moran not only guided the team with the X's and O's, he showed them the ABC's of how to get a college scholarship, too.

Moran took the team on the road during the summer months, touring elite club tournaments from coast-to-coast. It was the national exposure that eventually allowed this group to land scholarships from schools across the country.

Soon, these young women will leave to schools from Georgetown to Arizona State, and many dots on the map in between.

But tonight's gathering is one to savor.

"It's just so cool," said St. Pius X senior forward Courtney Tinnin, a Rio Vista FC 90 player who will be headed to Arizona State on a soccer scholarship. "We were recruited as a team, and it's awesome we get to celebrate as a team."

Tinnin says she owes her scholarship as much to Moran's efforts as her own ability.

"I'm just so thankful to Coach," Tinnin said. "He really cares about all of us. He gave us the exposure we needed by taking us all over the place.

"He (Moran) knows a lot of (college) coaches, and he put my name out there."

This soccer dozen deserves a party to recognize each of their accomplishments before they go their separate ways.

"It's the experience of a lifetime," Tinnin said. "We're going to remember this day forever."
