LAS CRUCES New Mexico State needed a win to keep pace with Boise State for second place in the Western Athletic Conference standings, and Jonathan Gibson led the way.
Gibson, a sophomore guard, scored a career-high 24 points as the Aggies men's basketball team beat Boise State at home 99-80 Saturday night.
Freshman Jahmar Young had 18 points for the Aggies (14-12, 8-3 WAC) while Justin Hawkins added 15 and freshman Herb Pope finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Tyler Tiedeman scored 23 points to pace Boise State (17-6, 8-3) while Anthony Thomas added 18 and Reggie Larry 14.
