SAN JOSE, Calif. A rare BlackBerry outage Monday wiped out service across the United States and Canada.
It was not clear what caused the outage — the second widespread disruption in less than a year. Some users reported being able to access their service normally.
Research in Motion Ltd., the Canadian company that makes the ubiquitous mobile device, said data service was restored after about three hours. The company said voice and text messaging services were not affected.
The company did not say how many customers were affected.
