— State Sen. Stuart Ingle says he will seek re-election to the District 27 seat he has represented since 1985.

The Portales lawmaker serves as Republican floor leader. He also has been Senate minority whip and Senate Republican Caucus chairman. His district covers Chaves, Curry, DeBaca and Roosevelt counties.

Ingle, who was born in Clovis and raised in Portales, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and nutrition from Oklahoma State University.
