J.R. Giddens assisted on the Lobos' first basket (a layup by a cutting Dairese Gary) and spent the first five minutes trying to get his teammates involved Saturday night at The Pit.
Then he started shooting.
Giddens has a game-high 10 points at halftime, and played all 20 minutes. The Lobos are ahead 26-23 at halftime. Jamaal Smith came off the bench and started slashing hard through the TCU defense to lay the ball under and around Horned Frogs big men. He's got six points.
It was an ugly first half, with TCU turning the ball over 13 times, seemingly losing teammates and throwing the ball to cheerleaders and court side reporters instead of purple jerseys.
Ryan Wall, the former Lobos backup, air balled his only shot attempt and has been hearing it from court side fans all game.
