The Scopions were shut out for the first time this season, losing 7-0 at home Sunday to the Colorado Eagles. The defending Central Hockey League champions scored twice in the first six minutes.
The loss capped a dreadful weekend for New Mexico. The Scorpions dropped consecutive road games on Friday and Saturday before returning home to be dominated by the Eagles.
On Friday, the Texas Brahmas beat the Scorpions 4-1. On Saturday, New Mexico fell at the Amarillo Gorillas, 7-2. They had won six straight before the string of losses.
