The whole premise of "Sleep on It" (8 p.m., HGTV) is that you wouldn't buy a car without test-driving it, so why the heck would you buy a house without living in it?
Umm, because it's so much creepier to sleep in someone else's home than it is to drive their Malibu.
In this new series, aspiring property owners who like sleepovers spend 24 hours in the home they're considering so they can get a better handle on whether it's right for them.
After all, some flaws - such as noisy or nosy neighbors - aren't always apparent on first glance.
They get the run of the house for 24 hours to "kick the tires" and experience the house and neighborhood.
Watching someone avoid the purchase of a money pit with obnoxious neighbors is a joy to behold.
"The Biggest Loser: Couples" (7 p.m., KOB-Channel 4) shakes up the fifth season because for the first time ever in the weight-loss contest the teams of two will compete against each other rather than individuals.
Nine of the ten teams - including a mother and son, husband and wife, a divorced couple, best friends, brothers and former football teammates - already have a special bond.
Special bonds equal a special amount of tears. I'm expecting buckets with this edition.
One team, however, will be made up of complete strangers who don't meet until they are surprised with the news they're being paired together.
In tonight's premiere, the teams have to pick their trainer, weigh in and compete together in a challenge that has the duos pulling a giant, hot-air balloon across a field.
Heck, no, I would not go.
"Ocean Force" (6 p.m., TruTV, formerly Court TV) shows us the inner workings of being a Huntington Beach lifeguard.
From the first episode I screened, it's apparent that there are a lot of stupid people on the beach.
The lifeguards do their best to handle drunk, self-destructive teens and adults who think it's cool to jump off piers.
The highlight comes when they save the life of a 14-year-old who has a heart attack while getting out of the water.
Lifeguards leap into action using their handy-dandy tools and get the kid the help he needs.
Better than "Baywatch" any day.
