At one of my former jobs, I gleefully issued warnings to bad parkers.

There's simply no excuse for parking in a handicap spot, fire lane or straddling two spaces because you don't want someone scratching your precious Hyundai.

Now mind you, these had no actual monetary punishment attached to them. But I enjoyed writing them nonetheless.

The imaginary power I wielded was intense.

"Parking Wars" (8 p.m., A&E), a new reality series, follows the people who have real sovereignty in parking.

Philadelphia Parking Authority employees dispense parking tickets and citations to often kind of testy individuals.

Honestly, it's not like I don't understand their crankiness. Finding parking at UNM is enough to send me straight into a blind rage. And do not even get me started on the River of Lights mess that they called a parking lot.

In tonight's premiere, a broken meter causes a brouhaha between a PPA employee and a citizen.

Then a team responsible for booting vehicles encounters a woman who has an unhealthy emotional attachment to her vehicle. And an impound lot employee has a five-hour face-off with a man trying to get his Mercedes back.

I'm so inspired by these people that I think I've found my new career.

The CW canceled a witty, well-written drama like "Veronica Mars," yet kept the awfulness of "One Tree Hill" (7 p.m.).

Clearly there is no justice in this world.

In tonight's Season 5 premiere, we skip ahead four years from the last time we saw these genetically blessed people.

Lucas (Chad Michael Murray), Brooke (Sophia Bush), Nathan (James Lafferty), Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and the rest of their Tree Hill gang meet up all these years later - just like they promised.

While I don't particularly care what any of them have been up to, with the exception of Haley, who is awesome, I have to applaud the writers for being bold enough to try something a little new in this refried soap opera.

For those of you who love awards season - but not all the snooty, elitist critics who pick the winners - there's "The 34th Annual People's Choice Awards" (8 p.m., KRQE News 13).

It's that special time when we commoners choose our favorites in TV, movies and music.

Power to the pop culture!

Because of the writers strike, the show is even turning to us for material. Fans can now submit insipid questions to their favorite stars, and the answers will be sprinkled throughout the show.

Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.
