In a city that gave notoriety to the Green Grocer, the Itty Bitty Bandits, and the Ninja, Pinocchio and Gremlin bandits, the FBI's moniker for the most recent bank robber is just lame.
They're calling him the Crutch Bandit.
The Bank of Albuquerque on Wyoming Boulevard just north of Paseo del Norte was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning by a man hobbling about on a crutch.
He made his way to the teller with the gun in one hand and his other hand on his crutch.
And if folks in the bank ever underestimated him because of his injury, the doubt ended when he fired two shots. No one was hurt.
He hobbled away with an undisclosed amount of cash, got into a silver mini-van and drove away.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 140 pounds, and about 5 feet 5 inches tall. The FBI says he might have tried to rob a West Side Bank of America earlier that morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 843-STOP.
