Tax haven: ACORN today will open its free tax site and benefits center. Aside from free tax-preparation services, families can get help applying for food stamps, child care, Medicaid and energy bill assistance. The center, 7505 Kathryn Ave. S.E., opens at 1 p.m.
Spanish solar: EMCORE Corp. will bring its "Concentrator Photovoltaic" components and systems to clients in Spain. It will install a 300kW CPV system in Castilla-La Mancha and a 850kW solar power park in Extremadura.
Well fed: Customers of Smith's Food & Drug stores in New Mexico provided 12,173 meals for the hungry and homeless during the 2007 holiday season.
Paint it green: The Mesa del Sol building occupied by Advent Solar has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED Certification means it meets several environmental sustainability standards.
Settled: Eclipse Aviation and Hampson Aerospace have settled their legal disputes. Hampson, which creates tail sections for the Eclipse 500, sued Eclipse over payment issues. Eclipse, meanwhile, complained about delays caused by quality issues. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Smart grants: The PNM Fund this year will award more than $200,000 in Classroom Innovation Grants for New Mexico teachers. Applications are being accepted through March 5 at pnm.com/innovation.

Ad awards: Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau ad campaigns created in partnership with advertising agency McKee Wallwork Cleveland have received three Gold Adrian Awards from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.
New branch: Santa Fe's Century Bank has entered the Albuquerque market. The company hired Joe Sierra and Tom Baker for its new loan production office at 6330 Riverside Plaza Lane N.W.
