Under a light rain, James Monroe Middle School campus aide Linda Lyon directs traffic on Paradise Boulevard Northwest. The rain shower in which Lyon worked Thursday afternoon turned into a downpour overnight. The National Weather Service said more than half an inch of rain fell at the Albuquerque International Sunport, but an inch was reported in Corrales and 0.83 inches fell in Rio Rancho. Some intersections in the metro area flooded, and higher elevations were coated with with heavy, wet snow. East Mountains schools were released early due to the snow. The precipitation was expected to move out today, but more wet weather is expected late Sunday and Monday, the weather service says. |
